The event was again a great success and below is the speech which was read out by Chairman David Woodhouse.
Our year started with our last AGM. This time last year following the business and formalities we had a lecture from Jack Gott who spoke about how he grows his dahlias mainly for tuber production to sell on. But also as we all know he does very well on the show bench especially with waterlillies and collerettes.
Also Ian Sutherland showed us a quick tour around the shows and a few new varieties that had caught his eye. Thanks to you both.
Next it was our annual dinner and presentation, which again went very well. Thanks to everyone that helped and set it up. Also a big thank you to Frank and Joyce who once again set up a very good musical quiz, I know they put a lot of work into setting it up. We had an amazing raffle again with over 80 prizes.
Next we moved onto May when Barry Smith gave a talk about the way he grows his dahlias, also about the new pom ring and growing them to their potential. Thanks Barry. Also thanks to Frank, Ian and Graham for bringing plants to sell.
Shortly after this meeting, as you all know, we lost our friend and treasurer Mr Bill Gott, which was a great shock to us all and a big loss to our society.
We are very grateful to Anita for her continued support at a very difficult time for her.
Then onto our show, again held at Ingleton, which I think you will all agree was a great success. I would just like to thank everyone involved and hope for more of the same next year.
At our October meeting we welcomed Gordon Hodgson, who spoke about how he hybridises his dahlias. He seemed to make it sound simple and he explained it very well. He also gave out a few seed heads so here's hoping! Thanks to Gordon.
Finally I would just like to thank the committee. We are only a small band but more or less everything runs smoothly throughout the year, thanks to you all for supporting us throughout this year and all the best for 2016.
